James L. Ratton, 72, of Washington, died at 9:37 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Born Feb. 9, 1937, in Little Rock, Ark., to Marion and Pauline Perkins Ratton, he married Betty A. Johnson Dec. 20, 1956, in Forrest City, Ark. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Jim (Julie) Ratton of Roanoke, John (Robin) Ratton of Amity, Ark., and Jerry (Carol) Ratton of Sunnyland; two brothers, Marvin (Pearl) Ratton of Huntsville, Ala., and Steve (Debbie) Ratton of Tampa, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Noret; one granddaughter, Heather; four brothers, Earnest Ratton, Marion Ratton, Hubert Ratton and Tommy Ratton; and one sister, Dorothy Ratton.
Ratton was employed as a sheet metal worker by Champion Furnace for more than 41 years and for Formaloy Corporation before retiring.
Services were Tuesday at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Dennis Ripley officiated. Visitation was Monday and prior to services.
Burial followed in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
