John H. Madden, 67, of Washington, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Dec. 26, 1942, in Danville to Fred and Anna Mae Miller Madden Jr., he married Susan K. Zetterlind in Washington Nov. 24, 1963. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Brad (Anita) Madden of Washington; two daughters, Monica Sue (Ron) Allison of Chillicothe and Patricia Davis of South Pekin; two brothers, Larry (Mary Jo) Madden of Concord, N.C., and Joe (Carol) Madden of Washington; one sister, Patricia (Rich) Miller of Washington; eight grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Sue Madden, and a grandson, Jacob Madden.
He served in the U. S. Navy Mobile Construction Battalion unit of the Seabee’s overseas.
Madden was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Local 649 working for Spurgeon Construction in Washington prior to his retirement in 2005.
Services were Saturday at Mason-White Funeral Home. The Rev. John Bates officiated.
Visitation was at the funeral home Friday and prior to services Saturday.
Burial followed in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Military rites were accorded by the Tazewell Military Rites Team and the U.S. Navy.
Memorials may be made to either St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or the American Red Cross.
