 Arline J. Longden, 96, formerly of Creve Coeur, died at 3:35 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Washington Christian Village in Washington.
Born Aug. 25, 1913, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to Harry and Sarah James Bassler, she married John H. Longden April 22, 1932, in Pennsylvania. He died May 2, 1966, in Creve Coeur.
 Surviving are one son, John “Jack” (Mary) Longden of Tremont; one daughter, Carolyn (Mahlon) Blumenshine of Washington; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.
Longden was employed as a cook at the Homewood Heights Grade School in Creve Coeur prior to her retirement.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Evangelical United Methodist Church, 401 Walnut St, with the Rev. John Hauck officiating. 
Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside committal services will be at 2:30 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. 
Assisting the family in arrangements is Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Memorial United Church of Christ or any charity of the donor’s choice.
