Karen Elizabeth Salsman, 63, of Washington, died at 9:17 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at her home.
Born June 24, 1946, in Richland, Mo., to Robert and Rosalyn Deaton, she married Bill Salsman Dec. 22, 1964, in Washington. He survives.
Also surviving are her parents, Robert and Rosalyn Deaton; one son, Michael (Laura) Salsman; one brother, Jim (Linda) Deaton of Washington; and three grandchildren.
She was employed as a redemption clerk for Top Value Stamps until her son was born. She also worked as a cook at two daycare businesses, Grace Lutheran Church and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, both in Washington.
She was president of W.H.I.P. food pantry for more than 20 years.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. The Rev. Tom Myers will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
Memorials may be made to the building fund of Twin Oaks Missionary Baptist Church in East Peoria.
