D. Ruth Severns, 89, of Washington, died at 8:55 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Washington Christian Village in Washington.
Born Aug. 8, 1921, in Dunning, Neb., to William and Estella Carter Harness, she married Richard Severns on Aug. 3, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1966.
Surviving are three sons, Richard (Glenda) Severns of Washington,  Gary (Jae) Severns and Danny (Sherry) Severns, both of East Peoria; one daughter, Doris Phillips of Victoria; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Harold Severns; one daughter, Mary Cogdill; one brother, Frank Harness; one sister, Mary Kelso; and one son-in-law, Don Phillips.
Services were Friday at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. The Rev. Fred Doughty officiated.  
Visitation was Thursday at the funeral home. Burial was in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria.
