Robert L. Frye Sr., 84, of Washington, died at 7:10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at his residence.

Born March 26, 1924, in East Peoria to Harry I. and Ruth E. Strickland Frye, he married Esther Ilene Blake April 29, 1949, in Peoria. She died March 4, 2003.

Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Charles, Clifford and Harold Frye.

Surviving are two sons, Robert L. (Vera) Frye Jr. of Washington and Terry Lee (Gaylean) Frye of Burnt Prairie; one brother, James (Barb) Frye of Groveland; two sisters, Edna Weber of East Peoria and Arlene Purtle of Flannigan; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

He was a house mover and a laborer with Local 165 for more than 60 years.

He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Peoria.

Services were Monday at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. The Rev. Terry Rowell officiates.

Visitation was Monday at the funeral home. 

Burial was in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
