WASHINGTON — Gerald Lee Berlett, 67, of Liberty, Texas, passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at his home.
He was born Aug. 21, 1942 in Sibley, Ill. to Henry Elmer and Hazel (Smith) Berlett.
Gerald attended Washington Grade School, Washington Community High School and then served in the United States Navy as an electrician apprentice.
He was a lifelong outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping. He worked most of his life in the construction trades.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Berlett, Raymond Berlett and William Berlett; two sisters, Irene Bauer and Anna May Brubaker.
He is survived by his sons, Gerald Berlett Jr. and Earl Berlett; daughters, Gena Berlett, Deborah Berlett and Shannon Bodine; sisters, Phyllis Schmidt, Neva Meyer, Dorothy Kline and Norma Livengood; brother, Thomas Berlett; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Cremation rights for Gerald were entrusted to Allison Funeral Services of Liberty, Texas, and burial of cremated remains will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington at a later date.
Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
