John Robert Eppelheimer, 88, of Washington, died at 3:08 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at his home.
Born Dec. 22, 1921, in Thawville to George P. and Ruby McNaught Eppelheimer, he married Bernadine Zumwalt Feb. 26, 1949, in Watseka. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Connie Symmonds of Oklahoma City and Colleen (Barry) Hockensmith of Bloomington; one brother, Leland (Elvera) Eppelheimer of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Eppelheimer of Paxton.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Eppelheimer was employed as a machine operator at Caterpillar Inc. for 31 years before retiring in 1986. He also drove a school bus for District 50 for 17 years.
Services were Tuesday at Crossroads United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tom Goodell officiated. Visitation was prior to the services at the church.
Cremation rites were accorded, and burial will be in the church columbarium at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Crossroads United Methodist Church or to St. Jude’s Hospital.
