WASHINGTON — Martha J. Baer, 96, of Washington died at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Washington Christian Village in Washington.
Born Sept. 14, 1915, in Washington to Ora and Emma L. Miller Clemons, she married Robert Glover Baer Sr. Feb. 20, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa.
He preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are five children, Sally (Gerald) Ziegler of Hollister, Calif., Barbara (Carl) Miller of El Paso, Robert G. (Carol) Baer Jr. of Chillicothe, Ted (Donna) Baer of Randolph, Kan., and Jinx (Dan) Wissel of Washington; 12 grandchildren, Eddy (Lora) Miller, Angela (Bruce) Anderson, Robert (Susan) Ziegler, Elizabeth (Peter) Eichelberger, Patricia (David) Dowhan, Aaron Baer, Katie (Keith) Burwell, Margaret Baer, Betsy (Matt) Rambke, Robert M. Baer, Emily Perkins, and Sam Perkins; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was the co-owner of Knit & Stitch in Washington. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington and the Order of Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington. The Rev. John Bates will officiate. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services and inurnment will be private at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, TAPS or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
