On Feb. 6 Abraham Lincoln interpreter Fritz Klein of Springfield will be in town as the keynote speaker for assemblies at each of the grade schools.
He will also have a press conference on the Square with the Washington Historical Society to introduce a new tourism campaign.
Finally, there will be a free presentation of Fritz Klein as Abraham Lincoln at Washington Community High School at 6 p.m.
Here is a schedule of the events for Feb. 6:
• 9 a.m. — District 50 fourth- and fifth-grade classes
• 10:15 a.m. — District 52 fifth-grade classes
• 12:15 p.m. — Press conference on the Square hosted by the Washington Historical Society and Washington Chamber of Commerce (Open to the public)
• 1 p.m. — District 51 third-grade class (open to the public)
• 2:15 p.m. — St. Patrick School (open to the public)
• 6 p.m. — Public presentation at Washington Community High School (open to the public)
One of the sponsors of the event, Tazewell County Board Member John Ackerman said while the speaking engagements are held at schools, the ones that are open to the public will be just as interesting to adults.
“Klein does a great job of working with students but his program brings out facts for adults as well, Ackerman said. “He works well through all age groups.”
