WASHINGTON — Ludie Mae Bradford, 88, of Washington died at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Pekin Manor in Pekin.
Born July 2, 1923, in Collins, Ark., to Dr. Robert Newton and Ludie Tindell Smith, she married GW Bradford Sr. May 18, 1948, in Arkansas; he preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1986.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers including her twin, three sisters, and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, GW (Jennifer) Bradford Jr. of Washington; daughter, Sharron (Edward) Houghn of Princeville; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was an ICU nurse at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria for 30 years and then served as a home health care nurse for many years after retiring from the hospital.
Her family will have a reception in celebration of her life on Jan. 29 and will receive family and friends from 3-6 p.m. at Meadow Valley Center at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Northern Tazewell Rescue Squad, Pekin Manor and Harbor Light Hospice.
