Sunnyland, Ill. -

When Sara first told her story, she did not know it would be a catalyst for the creation of The Sara-Ministry Foundation.

Ministry creator Jen Miller said the group started because of her book, “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep: The Story of Sara.”

“It is a group of impassioned authors, teachers, ministers dedicated to taking women from simply surviving day-to-day life to thriving.”

Miller said many women are simply surviving.

Her goal, she said, is to help them to thrive and be the person they were meant to be.

Through The Sara-Ministry Foundation, women can participate in the Change is Choice seminar.

Miller said the seminar is a customdesigned curriculum to give women the tools of empowerment, principles and promises for daily living as a thriver.

The ministry focuses on two parts, she said.

Becoming is designed for women who want to take their spiritual walk and practical life to a higher level.

“It is a study for every woman — a life study — with practical tools,” Miller said.

“It is not limited to any spiritual level, age or where in life you are,” she added.

The Becoming program is available to women’s organizations and churches, Miller said.

Miller said women who have taken the seminar have told her it did not end when the class ended.

Thrivers is especially geared to women who want to recover and grow from devastating childhood abuse on all levels, Miller said.

Because recovering from childhood abuse is a specific group, Thrivers necessitates trained facilitators or licensed therapists.

“We need facilitators and trained therapists. We need people who have the heart and passion.”

In addition, Thrivers needs a place to meet, Miller said.

Training is in place for anyone who is interested in becoming a facilitator.

“One of my long-term goals is to have a Sara House,” Miller said. “We want to prevent abuse from continuing and help women thrive.”or more information about The Sara Ministry Foundation, visit www.sara-ministry.com, or e-mail Miller at jen@sara-ministry.com.
