Washington, Ill. -

Washington city workers and AmerenCILCO were kept busy Tuesday thanks to a summer storm with severe winds in the early morning hours Tuesday.

The storm started with high speed, gusting winds, and soon developed into a thunderstorm that ripped branches from trees and downed electrical lines.

Public services manager Bill Bimrose said there were only a few lines down on the north and western parts of town.

A portion of Main Street had to be cleared of tree branches that were blocking a portion of the road.
