The two-car wreck happened just before 8 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the bridge. Both vehicles flipped over.
The name of the man killed was not released Friday night.
The two others who were involved in the accident were transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center with what officials called nonlife-threatening injuries.
Police closed the westbound lanes of the bridge right after the wreck. The bridge remained closed for several hours after the accident.
