A Washington man pleaded guilty Friday to surfing the Internet for child porn.

Kevin D. Jones, 39, of 211 Court St. pleaded to receipt of child pornography and, because of his two prior convictions for child porn and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, he faces at least 15 years in federal prison when sentenced Dec. 2 by U.S. District Judge Joe McDade.

Those prior convictions were in Peoria County for possession of child porn and in Ogle County, stemming from a 1999 incident with a girl who was 7 years old.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Schoenbein, federal cybercrime officers raided Jones' house earlier this year because of suspicions he had been talking to young girls on the Internet and not been compliant with sex offender restrictions.

Inside his home, officials found several computer items and also pairs of young girls' underwear. Later, officers met Jones at his job and took him to the Morton police station, where he told them he would often surf the Web looking for images of young models who, while dressed, would pose in seductive ways. The underwear, he said, was from a 9-year-old girl about whom he had “unusual” fantasies.

According to the complaint, the underwear belonged to the daughter of a woman Jones used to date.

In all, officers found about 3,500 images of the models, with about one in 10 of those being considered child porn. Jones remains in custody of the U.S. marshals pending his sentencing.
