Two Pekin men allegedly broke through another’s front door and awoke him from his sleep to beat him last week.

James White, 33, and Troy White, 36, await prosecution on Class X charges of home invasion causing bodily harm for the incident at the home of Bret Lighter.

Police found Lighter with blood on his forehead when they were called to his home on July 1, according to a prosecutor’s court affidavit. He and a woman in his home told police he was sleeping when the defendants broke in and began to strike him.

Officers found the home’s front door broken off at the hinges, the affidavit stated. It did not reveal a motive for the alleged attack.

James White, who was arrested within hours of the invasion, remained in custody Wednesday on $150,000 bond. Troy White remained held on the $10,000 bond set on July 3. Both will next appear in court on July 26.
