A Pekin man faces serious charges for allegedly allowing others to make meth in his apartment.

Jerry Burch, 55, was ordered held on $100,000 bond Friday on two charges of engaging in a methamphetamine conspiracy, Class X felonies punishable by up to 30 years in prison. He also was charged with possessing meth and unlawful use of property to make the drug.

Police received a call Wednesday from a person reporting a strong chemical odor wafting from a window at 220 Catherine St., Apt. D. When the caller walked by the window, two men and a woman ran from the apartment carrying bags, the caller reported.

Officers found Burch inside the residence, which contained items used to make meth and a jar filled with more than 100 grams of the drug in its liquid form, a prosecutor’s court affidavit stated.

Burch acknowledged he arranged for a man to make meth in his residence and had obtained the drug from him in the past, the affidavit stated.

He’s next due in court in the case on April 12.
