PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced daytime lane closures beginning Monday, Oct. 23, on the Murray Baker Bridge, which carries Interstate 74 over the Illinois River between Peoria and East Peoria. Traffic will be reduced to one lane between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., beginning with the westbound direction.

The lane closures will allow for the annual routine inspection of the bridge and last for two weeks.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, restrain from using mobile devices and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
