The Eureka girls golf team qualified for the Class 1A state tournament for the first time in school history Monday by finishing second in the Metamora Sectional at Metamora Fields.

Carolyn Pacocha shot 75 to pace the Hornets, who had a 334 total, 10 strokes behind Bloomington Central Catholic.

Other scorers for Eureka were Hayley Coffman with 80, Morgan Greene with 85 and Cammi Hartman with 94.

Area girls to qualify as individuals were Peoria Notre Dame’s Sidney Jockisch (83), Morton’s Katy Troyer (86) and Notre Dame’s Mara McCarthy (87).

Notre Dame finished fourth as a team at 355.

The 1A state tournament is Friday and Saturday at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur.

Class 2A Sacred Heart Griffin Sectional: Two Galesburg golfers — Kirsten Osborn and Maitlyn Sanders — earned state tournament qualifying scores Monday at Panther Creek Golf Club in Springfield.

Osborn shot 76, just one stroke shy of medalist Kira Wolf of Mattoon, while Sanders ended with 83.

Galesburg was well off the pace as a team with a 10th-place finish at 394. Dunlap finished 12th with 411.

Pekin’s Summer Dick shot 104. She competed as an individual.

The 2A state tournament is Friday and Saturday at Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth.
