The Pekin Police Department kicks off its annual Cops for Kids series of summer events at noon Wednesday with a Mini Medallion Hunt at the Coal Miners Park Pavilion.

Officers have handed out tickets to children in recent weeks for the events, which promote interaction with police and the city’s younger citizens and their families. Tickets also are available at Police Headquarters.

Kids will dine on pizza and drinks as they hunt for the medallion that will bring prizes to the finders.
