The Pekin Salvation Army received a $10,000 check from a donor who hopes that others will kick in to match the amount and get the organization to its goal.

The gift brings the Christmas Campaign total to $186,806.

“The donor of this $10,000 gift heard about Peoria’s match and wanted to help Pekin’s efforts and has offered a $10,000 donation,” said Salvation Army Tri-County Director of Development Rich Draeger. “It is hoped that with this donation and subsequent dollars it will help generate that the Pekin Christmas Campaign will be successful at attaining its $200,000 goal.

“We are grateful to this donor and hope others can help us match the $10,000 and reach our goal.”

Donations for the match will be accepted through the end of January.
