1946 - 2016

David F. Cochran, 70, of Pekin, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at UnityPoint Health–Methodist in Peoria.

Born Nov. 12, 1946, in Pekin to Anton Andrew and Josephine Alice Maston Cochran. He married Carolyn A. Shreve May 9, 1969, in New Kent, Va. She died July 11, 2004, in Pekin. He later married Bernie Schaefer Timke. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Amy R. (Derek) Budisalich of Priceville, Ala., and Abbey L. (Jason) Sombeck of Pekin; one stepdaughter, Traci L. (Mike) Gosnell of Pekin; one stepson, Brett C. (Stacey) Timke of Pekin; and six grandchildren, Zachary Gosnell, Riley L. Budisalich, Raven Timke, Peyton Budisalich, Jonathan Sombeck and Josephine Sombeck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters.

He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

A graduate of Pekin Community High School and Illinois Central College, Dave attended Illinois State University and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.

Dave retired from South Side Trust & Savings Bank of Peoria as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in April of 2013 after enjoying a 43-year career in banking. Dave continued in retirement as Chairman of the Bank’s Board of Directors. Dave also served on the Mid Illinois Insurance Services Board and several other boards throughout his career including: Central Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross, Greater Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Peoria Area Business Alliance and the Better Business Bureau.

Dave enjoyed golf and was a member of Pekin Country Club, where he had served as a member and past president of the Board of Governors. He also was a member of the Robert Monge Sunset Best Ball Committee. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears.

Most of all, Dave will be remembered as being devoted to his family.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
