1933 - 2016

Charles Franklin “Chuck” Estes Sr., 83, of North Pekin, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, in the emergency room at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.

Born April 24, 1933, in Manito to Andrew Lee and Edna Mae Martin Estes. He married Beverly Jean Taylor Dec. 20, 1952, in North Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Joshua Estes; five sisters; and four brothers.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Estes of North Pekin; three sons, Eddie Lee (Bonnie) Estes of East Peoria, Charles Franklin (Lynne) Estes Jr. of Manito and Ricky Eugene (Sheila) Estes of North Pekin; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Delbert Estes of Pekin.

Chuck had attended First Missionary Church in North Pekin.

He worked for the grain elevator in Pekin for over 40 years. He also worked for Norris, Hazenwinkle, Central Soya Company, ADM and Louis Dreyfus, retiring from Louis Dreyfus. Afterwards, he worked for Grain Flo in Heyworth.

He enjoyed all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his grandson.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Tony Darr will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
