A rural Pekin man was charged this week with sexually assaulting a woman as she slept after a Christmas party at his home.
John Buley, 46, of 14116 First St., sexually touched the 29-year-old woman early Sunday after she chose not to drive home from the party at the residence where a friend, her boyfriend and Buley, his father, lived, according to a prosecutor’s court affidavit.
The woman said she awoke to find Buley fondling her. She left and contacted police in East Peoria, where she resides.
When a detective later asked Buley if he took advantage of the woman as she slept, he responded, “It seems that I did, yes,” the affidavit stated.
He posted $5,000 cash bond after he was charged in court Wednesday with criminal sexual assault, punishable by four to 15 years in prison. He’ll next appear in court on Jan. 12.
