Michelle Diane “Mickey” Kent, 65, of Pekin, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, in the emergency room at Pekin Hospital.
Born Sept. 15, 1951, in Pekin to William Dale “Snooks” and Doris Louise Gardiner DeVault, she married Robert Oliver “Bob” Kent Aug. 21, 1971, in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Holly (Clifford “Cliff”) Simpson and Amber (Shawn) Jordan, both of Pekin; six grandchildren, Abigail Jordan, Clifford “C.J.” Simpson, Branda Jordan, Olivia Simpson, Ellen Simpson and Ava Simpson, all of Pekin; three sisters, Debbie (Tom) Teufel, Gail DeVault and Kelly DeVault, all of Pekin; two brothers, Steven (Judy) DeVault and William “Chip” (Jill) DeVault, both of Pekin; her mother-in-law, Maryellen Kent of Peoria; and her sister-in-law, Diane Phillips of Bartonville.
Her parents preceded her in death.
She was a 1969 graduate of Pekin Community High School.
Michelle’s family was very important to her and she showed her love by babysitting and caring for the younger members of her family, including her cousins, nieces, nephews and her grandchildren.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading and doing crosswords. She was a great cook and baker. She also had a quick wit about her, loved animals and was known to never miss watching Jeopardy. She was a 30-year cancer survivor. She continued to care for others after her death by being a Gift of Hope donor.
Her visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
There will be no service and burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin at a later date.
