A 4-year-old boy was injured and his father was arrested for not properly restraining him in a vehicle that struck a power pole Monday on Broadway Street.
The child was taken to a Peoria hospital with facial cuts but was conscious with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Chauncey Huddleston, 27, of Pekin, was cited for failure to properly restrain a child and driving with a suspended license after the accident at about 10:50 a.m. at Broadway and Orchard Avenue. He was not injured in the crash.
Police said Huddleston lost control of his Dodge Caravan while westbound on Broadway as he spoke to his son sitting in the rear seat. The van veered to the right, jumped the curb and struck the pole, sending the child into the front seat.
