1922 - 2016

Mildred L. Cooper, 94, of Pekin, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at her home.

Born March 29, 1922, in Manito to Edna Mae Martin. She married Alvin Jester in 1938. She later married David Cooper July 26, 1969, in Pekin. He died in 1986, in Pekin.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Jester and four brothers.

Surviving are one daughter, Connie Moore of Pekin; one son, Everett (Cindy) Jester of California; 13 grandchildren including RaNae (Dan) Sackett of Pekin who took care of her; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Delbert Estes of Pekin and Charles Estes of North Pekin.

Mildred attended South Pekin Congregational Church. She had worked as a custodian for Pekin School District 108 and also had been a landlord.

She was a lifetime member of the Amvets, VFW and Eagles.

Mildred loved auctions and if she bid on something she usually got it. She loved going to garage sales, dancing and having a good time. She even did the hokey pokey on her 90th birthday.

Mildred was also a very loving, kind hearted woman who would give you the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it.

She loved gardening, and she especially liked African violets. She also enjoyed renovating homes. More than anything, Mildred loved to spoil her grandchildren with love.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.
