1935 - 2016

Richard Paul “Dick” Genda, 81, of Florida, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Born and raised in Pekin, he graduated from Purdue University in 1956, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Judith Morrow of Kokomo, Ind., and began his career with Honeywell. Dick and Judie raised their three children in Little Rock, Ark, Arlington Heights, Ill., Atlanta, Ga., and Freeport, Ill. After 41 years with Honeywell, Dick retired as Director of Sales for the Eastern United States and moved to Longboat Key/Sarasota, Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith “Judie” Genda; daughter, Julie (Mac) Genda McKinney of Atlanta, Ga., and grandchildren, Austin and Evan; son, Mitch (Margie) Genda of Charlotte, N.C., and grandchildren Lucy and Margo; brother, Dr. William (Lynn) Genda of Pawleys Island, S.C.; nephew, Chris Genda of Des Plaines; and niece, Sarah (Josh) Borchers of Murrells Inlet, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his son, Todd W. Genda.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in the chapel at Church of the Palms, 3224 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, Fla., with Dr. Hmingliani Browne and Dr. William Genda officiating.
