Did you know ...

Ethel Wortmann celebrated her 90th birthday Aug. 9 at a special dinner at Denhart Baking Co. on Washington Square.
Joining her in the celebration were her husband of more than 40 years, Bill Wortmann, who is retired from Caterpillar Inc. Morton parts plant.
Also attending were her three sons from an earlier marriage, George (Katie) Hauser of Rexford, Mont., and Mission, Texas, Bill (Bonnie) Hauser of Purdy, Mo., and Les (Sharon) Hauser of St. Charles, Mo.
Ethel’s grandchildren, Brenda (Mark) Othick of McHenry, Donald (Sara Dean) Hauser of Huntsville, Ark., Mark (Kelly) Hauser of Rogers, Ark., and Joshua Hauser, St. Charles, Mo., and Toronto, Canada.
Grandchildren unable to attend were James (Miranda) Eilders of Clearlake, Iowa, Kimberly Hauser, Nashville and George Hauser Jr., Austin, Texas.
Great-grandchildren in attendance were: Christina (Adam) Boyer of Davis, Derek Hauser of McHenry, Erin Hauser of Huntsville, Ark. and Bret and Taylor Hauser of Rogers, Ark.
Unable to attend was great-grandchild Warren (Jessie)Hauser and their children, (Ethel Wortmanns great-great grandchildren) Natalie and Colt. Great-great grandchildren in attendance were Audrey and Cassie Boyer of Davis.
Prior to the celebration, Ethel received a special greeting from president and Mrs. George Bush.
Ethel (formerly Ethel Hauser) has lived all of her 90 years in the Washington, Sunnyland, Metamora area, with the exception of about 10 years she and Bill lived in Huntsville, Ark., during the 80s.

The Tazewell County Farm Bureau Young Leader Chapter, is made up of people between the ages of 18 and 35, met at CF Industries in Kingston Mines.
Members toured CF Industries in both Kingston Mines and Mapleton.
John Jansen, Gary Volk and Tom Mollar gave the group a general tour of the facility, which services a lot of different fertilizer dealers in the central illinois area.
Following the tour, the group had its business meeting.
As part of old business, the group heard reports about the young leader reunion during the Tazewell County 4-H fair, tractor pull at the Tazewell County 4-H fair and the State Young Leader Quiz Bowl during the Illinois State Fair.
As part of new business, the group discussed the I.A.A. District 7 fall meeting  Sept. 10 at Denhart Baking Co. in Washington, the young leader discussion meet, upcoming meetings and the I.A.A. bike ride.
The bike ride, which is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 2 through 4, will start at the Best Western Ashland House in Morton.
The 2007-08 Tazewell County Farm Bureau Young Leader officer team includes: co-presidents Ryan Voorhees of Washington and Doug Yontz of Delavan, vice president Ryan Zimmerman of Morton and secretary/treasurer Kyle Haning of Delavan.
The chapter is under the direction of Doug Godke, Farm Bureau manager in Pekin.
