Although there is no shortage in banking choices in Washington, National City is giving residents another one.
Washington Chamber of Commerce director Carol Hamilton said National City is in the process of building a branch bank on the lot next to Wal-Mart.
The lot, adjacent to McCluggage Road, was previously owned by Wal-Mart Corp. as an outlot, but was sold about one to one and a half years ago to Meer Development LLC out of Chicago, city administrator Bob Morris said.
Other than granting a permit for the 3,220 square-foot building, Morris said the city has not had any input.
“The lot was already commercially zoned,” he added.
Representatives from National City could not be reached for comment.
