WCHS Marching Panthers prepare for 2008 season

The Washington Community High School Marching Panthers will present the initial performance of their 2008 marching show, “The Music of the Who,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Babcook Field.

A volunteer sign-up expo will be at 6:45 p.m. and a parents’ meeting will be at 7:15 p.m.

There is no charge for admission. All parents, alumni, and music lovers are invited to attend.

This year’s marching show features three of The Who’s biggest hits: “Who Are You,” “Behind Blue Eyes” and “Baba O’Riley.”

Additionally, during parades, the Marching Panthers will perform two songs: “Triumph” and “America on Parade.”

The Marching Panthers will perform at each home football game.

Additional performances and competitions will take place on Sept. 1 (Toluca Labor Day Parade), Sept. 8 (Mid Illini Marching Festival), Sept. 20 (Pontiac Invitational), Sept. 26 (Homecoming Parade), Oct. 4 (WCHS Marching Panther Invitational), Oct. 11 (Metamora Parade and Field Show), Oct. 18 (Mahomet Seymour Marching Festival) and Oct. 25 (University of Illinois Marching Band Festival).
