...Route 66!
A famous phrase and song composed by Bobby Troupe in 1946. First performed by the Nat King Cole Trio in the same year. Many other bands had recorded it since then.
Why is Old Route 66 so popular with so many tourists today?
A photographer friend of mine and I took off to Route 66 to find the answer.
We caught Old Route 66 near Bloomington and followed it North stopping in Pontiac, Odell, and Dwight while pulling off the road to photograph some farm landscapes along the way.
A lot of time was spent in Pontiac because of the diversity of murals and nostalgic memorabilia. They take Route 66 tourism seriously!
