WASHINGTON —St. Patrick School is closed Wednesday while city and Illinois State Police investigate an overnight burglary.Washington Police Chief Jim Kuchenbecker said a school cafeteria worker called police shortly after 6 a.m. when she discovered a window in the main office had been smashed.
"No exterior windows or doors are damaged, so at this point we don't know how the burglars got into the school," Kuchenbecker said."We also have no suspects or witnesses."
Anyone with information is urged to contact the department at 444-2313.
The chief added that said small amounts of money are missing, but it won't be known what else was stolen until teachers and staff return to the school.
A sports event was held Tuesday night at the school, 100 Harvey St. Kuchenbecker said the school was apparently locked and secured at about 9 p.m.
