WASHINGTON—Max B. Shipley, 84, of Washington, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday Jan. 6, 2013 at Washington Christian Village.
Born on Sept. 17, 1928 in Thurman, Iowa to George R. and Rachel (Buhr) Shipley, he married Jacqueline Blumel on Sept. 4, 1950 in Nebraska City, Neb. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter Susan (Dan) Weick of Morton and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister Charlene Shipley.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In 1953, he graduated from Southeast Community College in Milford, Neb. In 1987, he retired from CILCO after twenty years of service. He was a mechanic and a surveyor. He was a lifetime member of Society of Automotive Engineers.
He also played in the Minor League farm system for the New York Yankees.
Services were 11 a.m. Jan. 9 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
Burial was in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
