  • Washington annihilated the Pekin and Limestone wrestling teams Dec. 18.
    The Panthers improved to 4-0 in the Mid-Illini Conference with a 49-9 victory over Pekin and a 55-9 win vs. host Limestone.
    Ryder Punke (126 pounds), Travis Rice (132), Andy Rettke (145), Aaron Strubhar (152/160), Kyle Stratton (170), Colin Carr (182) and Jake Godinez (220) were Washington double winners.
    Strubhar had two pins. In 152, he needed only 19 seconds to defeat a Pekin grappler. His 160 bout vs. Limestone ended in just 1:09.
    Punke posted a pin and a technical fall, while Rice notched a tech fall and major decision.
    Rettke supplied a tech fall and decision for the Panthers. Stratton recorded a pin and decision.
    Carr won by decision and pin, while Godinez victories came by decision and major decision.
    Also winning in Bartonville against the 1-4 Dragons were: Lane Weaver, Jeremiah Thomas, Brad Howe and Jeshua Sistrunk.
    Claiming victories for Washington against the 1-1 Rockets were: Ethan Reel, Austin Wileman, Randy Meneweather, Colton Gladwell and Steeler Trout.
    The Panthers' last M-I triangular is Jan. 3 vs. Canton and Metamora.
    Al Dvorak Memorial Tournament: The completion of the prestigious event in Machesney Park occurred after the early holiday deadline for the Washington Times-Reporter.
