Obituary: Velda I. Elliot, 95, of Peoria

PEORIA— Velda Imogene Elliott, 95 of Peoria, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center.

Born on Feb. 4, 1917 in Carterville to the late Verner and Cecile (Upshaw) Purnell, she married Lewin J. Elliott on Nov. 26, 1938 in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1991.

Surviving are a daughter and a son, Linda (Henry) Pratt of Washington and Stephen Elliott of Jacksonville, N.C.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Velda was a homemaker and concessions operator at Northmoor Golf Course from 1967-1971.

Cremation rites have been accorded and private graveside services will take place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
