The Washington girls tennis team thrived on a Sept. 10 trip to Pontiac.

The Lady Panthers swept the doubles format to lock up a 7-2 non-conference win.

The Washington combinations of Madison Duchaine/Emma Michelfelder (6-1, 6-1), Heather Spillman/Dara Megyesi (6-7 [2-7]), 6-0, 10-6) and Bree Harrison/Jasmine Diederich (6-1, 6-2) were victorious.

Michelfelder (6-2, 6-0), Megyesi (6-2, 6-0), Harrison (6-4, 6-3) and Erin O'Brien (6-2, 6-1) gave the Lady Panthers a 4-2 lead in singles play.

The Lady Panthers clearly were the dominant team Sept. 11 in a battle of winless Mid-Illini Conference squads.

Washington improved to 1-4 in the league after prevailing in all six singles matches.

Duchaine (6-1, 6-0), Michelfelder (6-0, 6-0), Diederich (6-1, 6-0), Megyesi (6-0, 6-2), Harrison (6-0, 6-3) and O'Brien (6-0, 6-0) won in singles.

The Lady doubles tandems of Spillman/Michelfelder (6-2, 6-2) and Diederich/Megyesi (6-0, 6-1) also triumphed.
