WASHINGTON — Alan C. Diehl Sr., 80, of Washington died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at his residence.


 

WASHINGTON — Alan C. Diehl Sr., 80, of Washington died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at his residence.

Born on April 9, 1931, in St. Louis, Mo., to Arthur E. and Hazel Candler Diehl Sr., he married Lorraine L. Frye on Aug. 25, 1952, in Freeburg. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Alan C. (Kathy) Diehl Jr. of Groveland; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one brother, Arthur E. Diehl Jr. of Augusta, Wisc.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran. His career at Caterpillar, Inc. started as a chip wheeler and then he went through the machinist apprenticeship program. He later became shop floor manager and concluded his career as factory manager of Building LL. He retired in 1986 after 37 years of service. 

He was a member of Highview Church of God in Washington.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. 

The Rev. Richard Fitzwater will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
