The Central softball team started off the week on a strong note Aug. 9 by defeating Eureka, 14-2.


The Central softball team started off the week on a strong note Aug. 9 by defeating Eureka, 14-2.

The Trojans compiled 10 runs in the first two innings.

Madi McCoy, Natalie Leavitt, Erin Webb, and Lauren Ely each went 2-for-3 at the plate.

McCoy also was the starting ace on the mound, pitching three innings, only allowing one hit and striking out three.

Sarah Crebo came in to finish the last two innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three.

Vs. Dee-Mack, 8-11
The Trojans kept their winning streak going by defeating Dee-Mack in both games of a double header, 17-0 and 9-1.

McCoy pitched a perfect game and was also 2-for-3 at the plate.

Fellow eighth grader Addison Baele and sixth grader Natalie Leavitt each contributed three RBI. Jess Earl also drove in two runs.

In the second game of the night, Crebo and Alyssa Martin pitched for the Trojans and neither surrendered a hit.

Top hitters for the Trojans included McCoy, who was 3-for-3 including an inside-the-park home run.

Jordan Heinz and Hayley Earl also had hits.

Vs. Georgetown, 8-12
Rounding out the week, Central defeated Georgetown, 15-0, in four innings.

The Trojans scored in every inning, but put up 10 runs in the third.

McCoy was the starting pitcher for the Trojans. She did not allow a hit and struck out eight batters in three innings.

Crebo came in to finish out the last inning of the game, recording three straight outs.

McCoy stayed hot in the batter’s box, going 4-for-4.

Eighth graders Jess Earl and Kate Mauschbaugh had two hits for the Trojans. Earl also drove in three runs and Alyssa Martin two.

Central’s record is now 6-1 on the season.
