WASHINGTON — John William “Jack” Everett Sr., 83, of Washington, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Washington Christian Village in Washington. 


He was the oldest son of Earl W. and Margaret F. (Peplow) Everett. He married Gloria Marie Bour July 4, 1953, in Chicago. She survives.


 

WASHINGTON — John William “Jack” Everett Sr., 83, of Washington, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Washington Christian Village in Washington. 

He was the oldest son of Earl W. and Margaret F. (Peplow) Everett. He married Gloria Marie Bour July 4, 1953, in Chicago. She survives.

Also surviving are three children: Sharon Kemp of Snellville, Ga., Connie (Gary) Rogers of Lawrenceville, Ga., and John William Everett Jr. of Sandy Springs, Ga.; eight brothers and sisters, Marvin T. (Phyllis) Everett of Peoria, Phyllis C. (Ronald) Veiria of Fresno, Calif., Valorie J. Everett of Bartonville, Earlene (Raymond) Martens of Pekin, Mary K. Powers of Peoria, Betty L. (Robert) Bohm of East Peoria, William (Ruby) Everett of Riverton and Robert (Nancy) Everett of Peoria; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Thomas, his parents, one brother Thomas Everett and three sisters, Shirley Maston, Margaret Wallman and Geraldine Silverman.

Jack served his country in the United States Navy and at the time of his discharge, assumed the role of primary caregiver for his parents, grandfather, and twelve siblings. 

After forty- three years of service to Caterpillar Tractor Co. as a tool and dye maker, he retired.

A funeral mass for Jack will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Church in Washington. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, where recitation of the rosary will be at 8 p.m. 

Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
