Pekin gained a split of its series with the Washington baseball team.

Two days after suffering their first loss of the Mid-Illini Conference season, the Dragons blanked the host Panthers, 5-0, April 20.

With two singles, Isaac Fisher accounted for half of the Washington (10-5, 2-4) hits off Pekin pitcher Ryan Vansaghi.

Vansaghi tossed a complete game with only one walk and three strikeouts.

Mason McCoy took the loss for the Panthers. He gave four hits and two runs in five innings with a walk and two Ks.

The Dragons expanded their lead to 5-0 with three runs in the sixth inning.

Jeremy Clauson was 3-for-3 with three RBI to pace Pekin, which is on track for its best Mid-Illini season ever.

Since joining the conference for the 2007 baseball season, the Dragons never have finished higher than a tie for fourth place.

New dates: Washington’s rained out home game Monday vs. Morton will be made up at 7 p.m. Thursday. The two teams, who also had their Wednesday contest called, will start out the day at 4 p.m. in Morton.

The home games vs. Richwoods (Friday) and LaSalle-Peru (Saturday, doubleheader) have been canceled.

The Panthers still will face Richwoods in Peoria at 11 a.m. May 21, which will be the regular-season finale.
