The Arthritis Foundation is calling for people to take action against arthritis by participating in the 2010 Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis.

The annual nationwide event kicks off during the holiday season, raising awareness for America’s leading cause of disability, while raising the necessary funds for research, health education and government advocacy to improve the lives of people with arthritis.

To celebrate the holiday season, participants wear jingle bells around their neck, don festive holiday costumes and join friends and neighbors in support of the Arthritis Foundation’s mission to prevent, control and cure arthritis and its related diseases.

Bring your reindeer antlers and running shoes to the Peoria Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis, taking place Dec. 4 at the Riverplex. Day of registration starts at 8 a.m. and the 5k Run/Walk starts at 10 a.m. There also is a 1 k fun walk option where participants can meet Santa and have milk and cookies. Awards and a post party will follow the race.
