Douglas D. Rathbun, 57, formerly of Washington, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Communities of Maple Lawn in Eureka.
Born Feb. 20, 1952, in Pontiac to Cecil Dale and Wanda Fern Ehrhardt Rathbun, he married Lori Mae Hyten. They later divorced and he then married Janice Catherine Eckert on Aug. 13, 2004, in Groveland. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Danielle Rathbun of Bloomington; three stepchildren, Cindy Rich Penrose, Richard Rich and Bobby Eckert, all of Washington; one brother, John Richard Jones of El Paso; four sisters, Doris Eymann of Chenoa, Jo Ann Smith of Peoria, Robbie Byrd of El Paso and Debbie McClure of Carlock; his nephews, Richie (Brandie), JT (Holly), Toby (Piper), Rodd (Cindy) and BJ (Lenise); his nieces, Josey (Dillon), Tiffani (Ben), Kelli, and Traci; one step niece Brynn; and three step grandchildren.  Doug was made a great uncle 16 times.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lois Boulware.
He was raised and attended all years of school in El Paso where he graduated in 1970
Doug is a graduate of Penn State University where he earned a degree in Agronomy/Horticulture.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Being stationed on an aircraft carrier, he saw a lot of the world.
Doug was employed at Pine Lakes Golf Club in Washington, where he was superintendent for more than 30 years. 
He will be missed by his and Janice’s two loving Dachshunds, Milton and Annie, who are well known at the golf course.
Doug enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing and bowling. He was an avid sports fan. He later simply enjoyed being a homeowner and relaxing.
Doug touched many lives during his years through golfers and employees, especially the employee he married! He was a devoted husband, father, and employee. 
Cremation rites will be accorded. The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
