The Washington girls swim team was sixth Oct. 18 in the Galesburg Invitational.

The Lady Panthers, led by Caitlyn Scheirer’s 100 butterfly victory, scored 132 points at Mustain Pool.

Scheirer swam the event in a meet-best 1:02.14 to collect first-place points.

Washington received double scoring in the 200 freestyle as Scheirer was second and Lauren Dwyer fifth.

Valerie Wetterauer placed third in the 500 free, while Dwyer was fourth in the 100 free.

Lady Panther teams earned second place in the 400 free relay and fifth in the 200 free relay for head coach Shane Morrison.

Galesburg was a convincing champion with 433 points, followed by East Moline.

Notre Dame 111, WCHS 67: The Lady Panthers lost to the powerful Irish Oct. 21 at the Five Points Washington Aquatic Center.

Dwyer won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:20.22.

The Washington 200 free relay entrant of Dwyer, Blumenshine, Wetterauer and Kirby also was first in 1:56.48.

On tap: Washington participates at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Mid-Illini Conference meet at Pekin.
