The Eagles won for the first time in Mid-Illini Conference play with a 25-16, 24-26, 25-20 home victory.

Players on both sides racked up big numbers in a grueling match.

Moriah Peterson led Washington with 23 digs, while Lindsey Boyer distributed  18 assists.

Lexie Barra made three blocks, which was the same number of aces she delivered.

Ashley Ernst’s eight kills topped a Lady Panther attack that featured four players with at least six slams.

The Washington sophomores were 25-15, 25-18 winners as Sarah Misselhorn had eight assists. The freshmen also prevailed, 25-13, 25-11.

Limestone 25-25, WCHS 16-22: The Lady Panthers dropped a league decision Sept. 17 to the Rockets.

Washington (5-7, 1-3) lost for the seventh time in its last nine outings. The home setback was the team’s first of the season.

The outcome was a reversal of a Lady Panther victory 11 days ago in Bartonville in the season-opening Limestone Tournament.

Sarah McCoy skied for six blocks, while Kacy Woith matched her production with six digs.

Ernst landed a handful of kills and Boyer registered four assists. Barra provided two aces.

The Washington sophomores rallied for a 22-25, 25-12, 15-12 win with seven Abby Clanin kills and three Kourtney Buckerfield blocks. The freshmen were victorious, 25-19, 25-19.
